Single Again

New You Programme

New You is a programme designed by Single Living to help you make important changes to your life - quickly and effectively.

Acting as your friend, guide and mentor, we will help you identify and tackle problem issues as well as devise key objectives and take positive steps forward towards a new lifestyle - and a new you.

YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Is it life coaching?
In a sense - but without any of the mantras and other psychological tricks that often form part of a life coaching course. New You is highly practical - ‘life fixing’ might be a better description.

Is New You right for me?
Would you like to have greater self-confidence, more friends, a better social life and a real sense of where your life is going? If so, you’re not alone. Many singles feel this way, but often they fail to do much about it, due to low motivation, poor self-esteem and a feeling of not knowing where to start first.
That’s where New You comes in - it will help give you the vital extra push you need to get things moving forward properly and for good..

How soon will I see results?
It’s hard to say, but in our experience, you will start to feel more positive right from the word go. As soon as you have booked your first New You session, you’ll know that some key elements are going to start getting better.

What happens afterwards?
Once your course is over, you may feel ready to go off and get on with life on your own. On the other hand, you may wish to arrange one or more follow-up sessions just to make sure you are able to maintain your forward momentum.

New You is a structured yet tailor-made programme which will involve some thinking on your part, a number of conversations, and above all, some positive actions.

If you live within the M25, we recommend that Stages 2, 4 and 6 be carried out face-to-face. If you live outside that region, don’t worry - it works fine by phone or online chat as well.

Stage 1: Questionnaire

Once you have signed up, your first task will be to fill in your New You questionnaire. This document is designed to help you identify any problem issues that are holding you back and to start thinking about where you’d like to see your life going from now on.

The questionnaire covers several different topics relating to your past life, the current situation and the future. Filling it in should give you food for thought but it should not prove too taxing - there are no right or wrong answers.

The questionnaire will form the basis for your New You programme, although you may well find it necessary to change some emphases and priorities along the way.

Stage 2: First session

In the first session we will explore and develop some of the thoughts you have set out in the questionnaire. The discussion is a friendly, informal and confidential chat that will give you the opportunity to talk candidly about any problems you are experiencing.

By the end of the session we will have agreed on a number of points that require action over the following week or two.

Stage 3: First steps

In the period (usually about 2 weeks) before our second session, you will have a few things to do as your ‘homework’. In addition to getting started on tasks that have needed tackling for some time, you may also be required to find ways of giving yourself some special treats. It is also possible that we will be doing some work on your behalf as well. You will keep a daily diary in which you will make notes of any positive or negative events or emotions.

Stage 4: Second session

The second session builds on the action points that have arisen so far, We will review progress on any key practical and emotional issues and agree on a further set of action points.

This second round of action points will build on what has gone before and may involve your taking more steps to ‘plug back in’ to mainstream life. You are likely to find this stage quite exciting as well as a little daunting - but of course we will not ask you to do anything you are not comfortable with.

Stage 5: Further steps

As before, you will have two or three weeks to do your ‘homework’ - dealing with the action points and keeping your diary.

Stage 6: Third session

The third session is the last in the programme and we will use it to review progress and talk about where things go from here. We will discuss short-term and longer term goals so that you will be able to maintain your progress.

Further help

At the end of the programme, it will be up to you to decide whether or not you require further sessions. By now some clients are chomping at the bit to get out there and take on the world. Others feel that they need further support - in which case they can book a further set of sessions.

In any event, we are here to act as an advisor, information source, sympathetic ear or just friend - it’s all part of the service. And of course you can use our various services - the Friendship Club, Travel Companions, etc, to make sure you get the most out of life as a New You.
